Rodents of Madagascar



There are roughly 20 species of rodent found in Madagascar, all of which belong to the endemic subfamily Nesomyinae. The most found Malagasy rodent is the rabbit-sized jumping rat of the dry western part of the country.

Lowland red forest rat Nesomys audeberti
Red forest rat Nesomys rufus
