Geckos in Madagascar

Geckos (Gekkonidae family) are widespread in Madagascar.

Day geckos advertise their presence with neon colors -- typically bright green with orange, red, or blue spots. At the opposite end of the spectrum are the ten species of Uroplatus or leaf-tailed or fringed geckos which are masters of camouflage with skin color and color patterns that almost perfectly match tree bark or moss (Uroplatus geckos can change color to better match their surroundings). Usually you can find these fascinating creatures with their head downward, flattened against the trunk of a tree. . Incredibly fast. When cornered, raises tail and opens mouth as wide as possible. bright red-orange interior. gaping mouth
